Still doing Sat's GK Telegraph crossword.

36a. Photograph or picture consisting of varying tones of a single colour or black and white. (10)

I immediately thought "monochrome"

However 34d is "Three dimensional shape bounded by 8 plane faces (10) has to be a Decahedron. :shrug: what else could it be??????? the "hedron" bit fits 3 other clues.....

The bold E therefore means 36a is "----E-----"

Help!!!!

34d is "Octahedron".

Dec = 10 faces
Oct = 8 faces

Your "monochrome" should fit now

8 sides would be Octahedron

Damn, and there was me thinking of something similar to a 50p piece but with 8 sides round the edge and then a top and a bottom , so 8 + 1 +1 is.....d'oh!

I think they're the ones that look like the ancient Egyptian statues.
