Hey all, I found this photography competition on lafango.com, I got through the first round with a photo I got following the 'how'd they do that' tutorial for the bubble and waterdrop, (cant say thanks enough to sarampo for that guide) so now im in the second round and voting has begun, so if any of you are members on this site or like me have buckets of time on your hands atm, then I'd really appreciate your vote to get me into the top ten. Last time I checked I was around 25th but early on I was third so I think my photo does have the potiential to qualify for the third round, just needs a little help! Take a look at the other photos while your there, there are soem really great entries there, and well....erm some not so great photos!

I for one won't be helping you out - if your entry is worthy of a place in the top 10 it will get their surely on its own merit and not through cheating.

If you feel that others are doing the same, then is it a competition really worth entering in the first place?

You should enter by your own skills etc, not from others. That is rather cheeky!
 
Ok fair enough I understand, btw it's not cheating when the website gives you a link saying 'get your friends to vote for you by clicking this link', so if it's offended anyone in any way im sorry! Oh yeah in my first post I forgot to put a link to the website dpchallenge, that's where I got the guide for the bubble and drop photo.
 
yes but your not getting friends to vote, you've just randomly posted this on a forum who no ones never heard of you and you're advertising for us to vote, this is a public forum with hundreds/thousands of members so this would technically be classed as cheating.
 
Alright alright calm down, if it's bothering you that much then you don't need to vote right? If look up aswell I didn't just say vote for me, gimme a 5 and then that's all, I did say go through a few others aswell, if you believe that there are 50 other photos better than mine then go a head and score the better than me, all it means is that I've shot myself in the foot by posting the on here. In a addition if you have a litle look they discounted thousands of votes from the first round that they thought was foul play, one guy even created 140 accounts for himself to try and get through to the second round, so there's no need to worry if I'm cheating here because if I am then your vote would be discounted anyway.
 
Went and had a look, preferred a different photo, so voted for that one.

As you are new here and being a bit cheeky to try and get your photograph in to top place I am not surprised with the replies.

However, I will give you a vote, because I believe others will do the same and the only value therefore of this competition is the prize money.
 
Thanks very much NigelPaul, as I said above vote for others aswell to give it more of a fair balance, I think I was fairly niave when I originally posted this topic as to what the response would be, regardless of whether I get through or notyou can guarentee I'm not gonna be posting anything like this again! Thanks again.

I haven't looked through your 30 or so other posts, but perhaps when you reach a certain amount and people get to know you and your work more perhaps they will overlook the 'cheating' aspect and help you out a bit. :shrug: Looking at the site's forum and comments, it is obvious others are asking for votes, so why not you. ;)

I do agree with Airscene, but this type of competition is only worth the prize money IMHO, and therefore the winner will be happy with the dollars rather than thinking they have the best photograph.

Anyway, best of luck and let us know if you win.

I liked your droplet piccy BTW, never seen one inside a bubble!

yeah I registered on here a while back but forgot about it until about a month ago, ive given some critique posts and hopefully helped some people who have posted about buying DSLRs. I know what you mean about the prize money, it hasnt stopped me trying to take as good photo as I can for it, and looking at the majority of the photos I'd say others have done the same.

For a more, shall we say, honest competition, ive entered a few in the past on the website www.dpchallenge.com where there are weekly competitions with no prizes, and actually done quite well with them, it is a better environment over there compared to this other site with the $1000 prize.

Thanks, that photo was like one of a handful of shot where I acutally managed to capture everything correct, took like three hours in total and had like 400 missed shots. Worth it though!
 
Elliott-Ness: yeah sure, sorry I didnt see your post earlier, the theme for this round is architecture, my photo is of an aquarium called 'the Deep' in Hull, East Yorkshire
