Gitzo GT3541LS Tripod.

I have been looking for a good tripod to support my Nikon 400mm f2.8 and have seen one available used for £350.00

Is this a worthy purchase or not. I am new to the world of tripods as I've always hand held up till now.

Just to update this, I found the above tripod going for £250 so bought it. It was just what I was looking for and makes a nice sturdy platform for my Nikon 400mm f2.8 mounted on a Lensmaster gimbal.

Excellent tripod. Plenty stable if you don't extend the legs fully, fine for use w/ a gimbal.

Extending all but the bottom legs gives it the right height for me but seems pretty stable all the way out too.

For many uses it may not matter much if at all... used w/ a loose gimbal head is one of those cases where it doesn't really matter.

There's just one problem with that video. If you do what he suggests and lose 3 inches off every leg then virtually no one makes a tripod that's big enough for anyone over 6 feet tall.
