This may be a silly question but having never had a Gimble Head im unsure on this. I know that normally people mount there lens to the Gimble but i was wondering if they also allow the camera body to mount to them with a smaller lens ? i have a D4 and being a big body would this mount to say a BEIKE BK-45 head..

Thanks folks

I think the important bit is to get it balanced. The closer you get to the centre of gravity then the quicker and easier the movement will be (but I don't have one either, so could be wrong here).

In this case mount to the lens.

Usual rules apply - if lens weighs more than body (& has a mount) then mount to that.

If I was using less than a 70-200 then I'd use a different head. - ball type

I have mounted my D7200 to mine with the 70-300 just to try,it didnt feel nice though for some reason.
