Getting the Sony A6xxx to connect to a Smart Phone ?

Have any of you ever managed to get your Sony A6000 series cameras to connect to your smart Phone ? In all the years I've had the A6000 I've never got it to connect to any of the Smart Phones I have tried or a PC . The Smart phones have always said they are connected but the camera just wizzies on for ever saying connecting but never does this has happened on every phone I have tried ( many friends as well as my own) Is this connection just a lost cause ?

Opened the cupboard today to find a Samsung tablet ,it turned out to be my Grandsons and was told he didn't want it any more. I thought great I'll try and connect it to the Sony a6000 the short answer is I wasted my time as it does exactly the same as any other device , it says connected but the camera never does actually connect.

Third attempt. I got hold of Mrs Badger S21 followed the instructions only to find the instructions in no way matched the menus in the camera ! The camera works very well but sometimes I'm sure it's trying to wind me up. I brought the camera partly because of it's supposed connectivity to other devices so far it's never managed to connect to anything !
