I was admiring the Prescott Vie en Bleu photos the other day that a TP person had posted and wondered how or if you can achieve that smooth and almost dreamy look from a crop camera? I'm assuming it would involve shooting RAW and tweaking a lot... the sigma macro I have does go a long way to give that feeling but there is still something 'croppy' about it.

Is there a button in aperture to do it as I could be tempted to buy it if there were :D

It's hard to explain exactly what it is but there is just something about FF with certain lenses and subjects. I want that look but an FF camera is way off my budget at the moment.

your not kidding its hard to explain. I haven't the foggiest what your on about. Still I'm curious to learn, so why not post up a pic or two for reference.

Can't find them now. Looked at the ones I thought they were and whatever I saw has gone.

Do you mean the shallow depth of field look?

That was taken on the 5DII using a 135mm f2 at f2.
Naff all DoF - but just enough to get the subject looking sharp.
Using this lens on a crop sensor is a bit too long for most purposes, but I notice some of the Brenizer Method articles recommend it.

It's not the shallow DOF on it's own. There's something else. Shallow DOF is easy with a 50mm 1.7 or a macro. There's another feeling to it on an FF. I notice it a bit in old film photos taken with the same lenses. It could just be something like the angle of view on a FF has something different even against the equivalent FOV with a crop.

It's not the shallow DOF on it's own.

Well a lot of the examples are wide angle with very limited DOF which is quite unusual because a W/A lens often has much more DOF than an ordinary lens and is usually used to take pictures which are relatively sharp all over.
