I 'd like to get a lens serviced. What's the best way of getting this done?

If you live near Gloucestershire, Don Clarke in Wootton under Edge has always done a good job on repairs.

Me, I’d go to the store where I purchased it. If purchased online, I’d go to an authorized dealer of the lens’s make that will send it to the local/regional subsidiary for repairs. Make sure to supply all the warranty documentation if the lens is still under warranty (2 years in the EU, I don’t know if that remained the case in the post-Brexit UK).

Depends on the lens... Sometimes it might be better (cheaper) if it is an older 'budget' lens to replace rather than service.

It was never 2 years in the UK

Must have been, it was European law. So, it’s (back to) only one year in the UK now?
The UK never had a statutory 2 year guarantee.
Our Sale of Goods act 1979 and now the Consumer rights Act 2015 allows for claims to be made up to 6 years (5 years in Scotland) although after 6 months it is up to the customer to prove inherent fault.
