Just a quick heads up.

Its rapidly approaching school photo time... where everyone buys those stiff starchy formal shots for grandmas and aunties etc.

If you are a portrait photographer, or an up and coming one, now is a good time to be pushing your work.... get in before the school photos when people still have their money in their pockets.

In my experience that's not that easy CT.
I've got 2 kids, 8 and 3, and throughout the 8yr old's school life, the photos have all been done by one company, the same local company that did them when I was at school!
So they have our area pretty much wrapped up...lol

Also, the nursery where my wife works is done by a local company but part of that big franchise, I forget the name though.

They probably get the job year after year because no-one else tries.

I've done a few schools, and they're great jobs, just present the school with a great bundle of photos in nice folders and the staff sort them all into classes for you and collect the money.

I targetted the local pre-school/nursery's instead with a candid style shoot of the children playing, etc. rather than the toothy grin pastel backdrop affair. Deal includes a commission for the pre-school on each sale. The response has been pretty good and the parents always love the candid shots

PS, don't forget the xmas pressie pitch as well, cards, calendars, huge canvas for the grandparents, etc
