Does anyone on here use it? and is it worth the money?

I would like to get some large prints made but my D100 is only 6mp.
Will give me good big prints or would I be better off putting the money towards upgrading my camera?

Thanks for any replies,
Marc
:)

I only have an old copy of Elements Joe (3) so I believe I would need to upgrade that as well for Genuine Fractals to work.
Have only just started playing with the resizing options in Elements and not really sure how good they'll be till I get some printed.
Will have to try that and see, thanks. :)

It is a good product, but as Joe says Photoshop does a pretty good job.

You can download a 30 day eval of PS CS4 from Adobe, why not try that first?

GF is pretty good, but to be honest in 2x3 foot prints I cant see any real significant difference between it and PS. Check out Scot Kelbys books, if I remember rightly theres a method in there which is supposed to give even better results with PS than the standard interpolation.
I think he got the trick from Vincent Versace, off the top of my head you resized to 360 ppi and used bicubic sharper instead of bicubic smoother. Haven't tried it myself though. Wayne

Do online printers use this sort of thing for pictures if they need to?

Reason I asked is I did some pictures for work and had them printed up on posters (is this different) some of them were five foot by three foot large and they came back with no pixelation or anything. The Pics were taken on an old 3meg Olympus and a D70.

Well, clearly they will have been upscaled in someway or other... maybe just luck?

Thanks guys, I'll do some more research and experiment :)

PS (if you have it) does nearly as good a job of interpolating images, if that helps?

i was going to say that i did a test between it ans PS and couldn't tell the difference! if you have PS its a waste of money

I've tried GF and I think it's over-hyped tbh. I can't see any difference in IQ from interpolating with Paint Shop Pro. I've also managed to get some quite heavily upsized images through Alamy IQ using PSP, so I'd be inclined to save the money. ;)
