Hello,

Am in need of a general walkabout lens in the region of GBP400, which I want to use with a D7000. I initially had the Tamron 28-75mm f2.8 in mind.

However, am in Tokyo for a few days and went to the local camera shop and they carry this lens for about GBP250 all in, so a slight savings on the UK price.

Given this, can anyone suggest any other lenses to consider as I still have a bit of room left in my budget.

Thank you.

35mm 1.8 or nikon 16-85mm are my most used walkabouts. Latter is not the fastest but is very sharp.

Hi Terry,

Thanks for the reply. Am already considering the 35mm f1.8, so was just wondering what would be a good complimentary lens. Would the Nikkor optics outweigh the fact that the Tamron is fixed?

Thanks.

Don't forget your tax obligations on anything you buy for when you return to the UK.

You can personally carry up to £390 of purchases before you incur VAT/duty. Since his budget is £400, I think he'll probably be okay.

Thanks
Rick
