Hello, i'm sort of new to this forum after just spectating for a while, i was wondering can you do photography as a topic to study in art and instead of drawing pictures, take pictures?

It might sound stupid but there is an art to taking photo's and i was wondering had anyone ever did it or are you even allowed to do it?

Thanks, Josh

As far as I remember you can't with regard to GCSE Art - but there are plenty of other non-accredited courses out there.

I did GCSE Art: Photography. It was on my choices list in erm...whatever year it was when I got to make my choices. I was the only one in the school to do it, and pretty much had to do it at lunch times etc. It was VERY art based and they wanted me to write about and sketch a photograph before I took it. To much my reply was pretty much "WTF?"...I think it very much depends on which exam board your school uses for Art and if you art teachers have any interest in teaching it.

But I dont think you would get a "This is how the camera works" sort of thing, it will be more "Take a photo of some flowers arranged in a vase"
