We recently needed to purchase some lower powered studio flash units as we have a lot of smaller product type shots to do.
Our normal equipment is far too powerful to get the lights in close enough without using ND filters etc, which is something we didn't want to do as a lot of this stuff will be shot on a 5 x 4 monorail camera using a maximum aperture F5.6 lens. And when trying to view a scene on a ground glass screen, upside down, and reversed, you really don't want an ND filter on the front of the lens.
Anyway I had to get my Dad (who is a very experienced commercial tog) to locate and order up the equipment as I was away on business. He got in touch with Lencarta and spoke to Gary Edwards at some length and through their discussions decided to order from them. My Dads comments were roughly as follows.
"When I spoke to Garry Edwards the first thing that struck me was the amount of time he was prepared to talk things through with me, our conversations were not rushed in any way and it is obvious that this guy knows what he's talking about. It was so nice to speak to someone that was on the same wave length as myself. We spoke about the work we needed to do and all the Lencarta equipment and what would be most suited to our needs, and also about shooting with monorail and view cameras".
When the equipment arrived the day after ordering we were very impressed first with the way it was all packaged and then with the overall quality. The flash units are very consistent with their output, the soft boxes produce a very even soft light, and the stands & boom arm are as good if not better than anything we have used before. So from us it's a big thank you to Gary Edwards and Lencarta for service that was second to none.
