Gamecube games on the Wii

Hi, Probably a question for Matt (Darksaber :D this one...)

Got a Nintendo Wii and I bought Metroid Prime (gamecube version) for it. Trouble is the controller doesn't work. I know cube games wont work with the standard Wii 'remote' so I bought a Gamecube controller - all the buttons work as expected, but Samus :geek: won't move forward.

I checked the Nintendo website and it says that you need either the classic controller or the cube controller.

So I bought a classic controller too - this time the game doesn't respond to ANY of the buttons on the controller :bang:.

Any idea what I could be doing wrong or is there a list somewhere of Gamecube games that don't work properly on the wii ?

Or (long shot), anyone else have a Wii and Metroid - if so, does yours work ok?

BTW, I really shouldn't be playing games (or admitting to it) at my age :D

have you tried a different port? i remember i got resident evil4 and was about to throw it across the room until i realised i hadn't plugged the controller into the right port (cant remember which one it is now...)

think it needs to be in port 1 which is furthest away from the memory card slot.
 
All of our GC games seem to work fine with the standard GC controller plugged into the Wii, You only need the "classic" controller to play some of the downloaded games.
 
Yeah, I've tried it in port #1 - no luck. I only got the classic controller cos it said on the Ninty website that GC games will work with it, so I bought it in case the GC controller was duff. I dunno why the classic controller wont work at all :shrug:.

Mr Grubby - you havent got Metroid Prime (GC) specifically to work on the wii have you?

just got a mate to try it on MSN and it works fine for him.

Metroid Prime GC on his Wii with a GC controller...
