The Canon G7 is the camera I want...at least on spec. But after reading about 10 reviews, on balance, it's not doing so well :'(
Does anyone know if there's another *compact* camera that has aperture/shutter priority settings and manual focus. the G7's getting hefty slagging off's but I can't see that there's any equivalent alternative.

I'm after control...but I need small! A dSLR in a separate camera bag is not an option.

I've only come across good G7 reviews!

More importantly, changing aperture on what is basically a P&S isn't going to give you the same visual differences when taken on an SLR. In other words, there's not a lot of difference between say f2.8 and 5.6 or 5.6 and 11 on a P&S due to the sensor size. Try it out at a local store and see for yourself.

What do you intend to take pictures of ? This will help give you more replies.

Good luck

panasonic LX2, Leica D-lux 3, nikon p5000.

the panasonic and leica have 28mm lenses too and shoot in RAW. something canon forgot about on the G7.

No RAW. If that makes a diffrence to you

apart from that why not. its a good little camera.

have seen the bad reveiws as well. my first camera was a g2 which i still have and is great camera.they can be picked up of e-bay for less than £100 last time i checked. just a thought if you think you may trade up in the future
