Hi there,
Would a 70-300mm FX lens give you a greater zoom on the long end than a dedicated 300mm DX Lens obviously for Nikon. So basically on the DX crop sensor lens do they taper the focal length down to match the 300 equivalent. So in effect not giving you the 1.5 crop factor.

Thanks

No - All lens lengths are the FF number. A 16-50 DX lens would be 24mm-70mm, or a 70-300mm FX lens would be 105mm-450mm on DX. A 70-300 DX lens would be the same as the FX one

A 300mm lens is a 300mm lens, te difference is in the magnification the smaller sensor gives (narrower field of view).

Te smaller sensor means you can make smaller lenses as it doesn't need to cover such a large sensor, but it is still 300mm.

I'm wondering why the equivilance nerds steer clear of the MFML thread
