I just had a bit of luck, well two bits actually.

I was trolling through the bay of E last week and I spotted an Ensign 820 with about 40 mins to go and no bids. BIN price was £50 but there was also a best offer option so I popped in a cheeky £30 offer and promptly forgot all about it. Anyway a couple of days later I had a message from the seller accepting my offer, it was her grandad's camera and was in the loft with a lot of other stuff that they were clearing out, she had no idea about it or even if it worked but it looked in excellent condition so I said yes.
So today I picked it up and it is cosmetically in fantastic condition, even the case is spotless. There are a couple of problems though, the red window is missing, no worries there, easily replaced, but there was a lot of fungus...:(Bad news so I searched through f&c and spotted a thread about shifting the stuff with lots of different methods but I was concerned about taking the lens off to attempt a clean. I removed the rear element easily enough and there was the fungus, none on the front elements at all, so I used a little diluted stop, an idea courtesy of our very own Rob Hooley (y) and voila, the lens is perfect.

So basically I'm just a happy bunny .

Cheers

Andy
