Fungi images. soft focus or front to back sharpness?

The season is yet to kick off but beginning. I am an Author on fungi albeit 20 years ago and still walking. Now however, in a wheelchair and not able to get that low. But still one of my favourite genres. Fungi would suit my vintage lenses very well esp the Carl Zeis DDR Pancolar f1.8 50mm. I enjoy shooting wide open
What lens do you prefer
 
I do quite a bit of fungi shots - always go for my Sigma 150mm macro and sharp front to back - not to say I always succeed mind you :)

I love the dreamy bokeh of close up shooting, especially with fauna. I do like my insects sharp back to front in most cases though.

My favourite close up lens is my EF 100mm f2.8L.
