I have a couple of SB-800's that I use to photograph my 2 year old - mainly 3/4 length shots and head shots against plainly colours walls.
I have been given the uee of a completely new room which is currently white on the walls, ceiling and floor (with white skirting at the bottom of the walls). I want to do full lenght shots of a couple of kids, do you think I will get good results from this setup, or will the skirting board be too obvious in the final pictures?
If I need to use a background system, any suggestions where to start (I'm assuming one with a train)? I'm on a limited budget so the cheaper the better!

Thanks for your help...

you could try a shot - flashing the wall behind
it may white it all out?

I think it will look amateurish.

Just for one shot you could probably rig up a few yards cut off a background roll, pin it or something. A short roll is about £30 from Warehouse Express I think. Even a bed sheet might be okay if you want a white background and can PP out the creases.

Or a basic background system from someone like Interfit is not much money - £100 including the paper.

Really want final results to look professional, I get great results with head and 3/4 shots but have specifically avoided full length shots as I have no background system in place. Was going to be a future add-on but I think my recent requests are pushing me in that direction sooner rather than later.

What background systems and colours do people use these days, what are your favourites? Any tips for lighting using 2 heads, appicable to all colour backgrounds but anything specific to working with white would be a help.

A few background systems around for not much money. Check Warehouse Express for starters. Get one with a telescopic cross-pole.

Loads of stuff on here about lighting white backgrounds if you scroll down or search. Going straight for a HiLite-style back-illuminated background might be a good plan from the sounds of it. Made by Lastolite or cheaper ebay copies. Fit it with a 'bottle-top' cover for other background colours

Check the Portraits forum here for ideas on backgrounds and lighting.
