What do you suppose the likes of Nikon and Canon are going to slot in this price band? If the 5dmk3 and the D800 are all they're planning then that will mean that you have to spend the thick end of £3k to get a FF sensor body.

Anyone heard any news to the contrary?

5D2 is not out of production

Nikon's D600 is going to slot right into the budget full frame market.

I would have thought the 5D mark II. By the time that sells out completely the Mark III will have reduced quite a bit.

How much was the Mark II launch price?

want to bet that it is but they have existing stocks left to shift? ;)
If the rumoured D600 really does come in at the rumoured price of~£1600 & isn't too crippled it will be interesting ...

Canon say at the moment they are running the MKII,along side the III,and I don't think the D700,has been discontinued yet :)

Canon has said 5d2 is not replaced by the 5d3, a clear clue that a budget FF will be forthcoming soon to bump off the 5d2. Photokina is coming up so it won't be long now. But naturally they want the 5d3 crowd to spend their hard earned first before giving a cheaper option.

Nikon will also join the party with the D600 and they just announced an "affordable" 24-85mm lens that will probably be the kit lens. Canon has the old 28-135 which might get a new version to differentiate from the 24-105/4 which is the 5d3 kit lens.

Personally I'm a bit "done" with aps-c DSLRs except as a wildlife extra-reach specialty body. It will be mirrorless or FF for me from now on. Canon has done a double-or nothing with their mirrorless system, letting everyone else lay down their cards first. They will play their hand probably within a month, so I'm letting my OM-D lust simmer for now :)

Go for the 5D 3 for around £2000 if you do not mind imports. I have heard Panamoz do them at that price, Mal (TP) bought his for £1995 from them. A steal at that price.

I reckon the D600 nikon budget FF camera has a good chance of turning up fairly soon, I am looking forward to it being announced to see the specs and to see whether I could justify having one myself.
