Well i've just emerged from the cupboard under the stairs after transferring the latest roll into the dev tank (which incidentally was somewhat harder than usual, don't think i got them on the right rungs but whatever, it worked), and i thought i'd take the chance, while it's got no film in it, to give my ST605n some much needed attention. Cosmetically it's in pretty good shape, and all the mechanics are going along smoothly, but there's a few things i want to remedy.
- Light Seals - as with pretty much every 'bay camera they need replacing, round the film compartment i should be fine with a kit, but the 'internal' ones around the prism i have no idea how i'd get to them.
- Cleaning of prism and focal screen - a piece of light seal fell onto the prism and left a dark smudge, i've tried cleaning it where it is and i think i can get it off without damaging it but it's in an impossible position. Are there any tips/guides/walkthroughs on how to take it apart and get the prism out, meaning i would also be able to clean the dust off the viewfinder screen and presumably the rest of the interior
So any help with either would be greatly appreciated. I must say that despite this i'm loving this camera, so simple yet so effective. Only criticism i have is that the split-prism occasionally blacks out, but it isn't that much of an issue (and in an ideal world i'd like some sort of grip, doubtless there'll be one on the next camera i buy to compliment it
