Hi.

I'm currently considering moving over from Nikon to Fuji XT1/2. I have an X30 and do know that my Nikon SB700 speedlight works in manual mode on camera (although it does look a bit unwieldy). I also have a couple of Yongnuo RF-603N's which don't seem to work with the X30.

I assume the SB700 will work on camera with the XT1 and would like to keep it for off camera work.

Does anyone know how I could trigger the SB700 off camera from either Fuji or should I look to selling the SB700 along with the RF-603N's and starting over from scratch? If I do start over what 's the current recommendation?

Regards
Neil.

Hello

I trigger both my Nikon 600 and 700 from my Fuji XT1 using the cactus triggers. I have also used Yongnuo triggers on a course, firing an SB800 from my Xpro1. I don't see any reason why you would not be able to do the same, although I dont know the exact specs of your triggers.

The critical bit that tripped me up early on was having the camera in silent mode; if this feature is engaged then any device on the hot show will not fire.

Hope that helps

Don't know about Nikon as I came from Canon to the X-T1. But I can fire my 580EXII flash units from the Fuji using RF 603 triggers. Think they need to be the MkII version. Manual only of course but they work well. Are you on MkI or MkII triggers?

Thanks. I'll take a look at the Cactus triggers, is there one in particular I should look at?

I did fall for the "silent mode" catch a few months ago and I bet many others have too.

Thanks. Not sure if I have Mk1's or 2's I doesn't say anything about which version on the box so not sure how to tell the difference.

I had heard that the Yongnuo C's for Canon may work (mine are the N's) but wasn't sure if they would trigger a Nikon strobe.

Off to do more research.

I've been with guys using Nikon bodies with my Canon 603 triggers on the hotshoe. Fired my Canon flashes no problem. Manual only of course.

The Mark II version has the on/off switch on the side with a TX and TRX option. Think the MkI has the switch on top with no option available.

Are the cables for remote shutter release like the old version ? In which case for OCF I don't need the cable, have I got that bit right?
Yeah. If you are just using them to talk to each other from hotshoe to flash unit you don't need a cable.

I do use mine as a remote trigger. One unit in my hand and the other on the hotshoe wired in and then you need a cable. They are supplied with one so get the right one, just in case.

Thanks. And thanks for being patient with me - lotsa question.

Thanks. I have had a look at those and may end up going that route but I'm going to give the Yongnuo's a go first (purely on cost grounds).

Thanks for your help - much appreciated.

Just got my hands on the Yongnuo's. Work perfectly on the X30 with Nikon SB700 off camera.

Just need to get hold of a XT1 now.

Happy days.
