Hi all, sort of 2 threads rolled into one really... I have just purchased a Fuji X20 and am looking for some advice really as this is my first Fuji :

1) Are there any pointers regarding ideal settings for making use of the camera easier from any of the Fuji veterans out there? Eg quick menus or ideal noise reduction / film type settings?

2) are there any recommended or must have accessories to make handling / carrying the camera any easier? There seems to be a multitude of thumb grips, soft release buttons, straps and cases a lot of which are from America and any advice would be appreciated.

Many thanks in advance.

Andy

the thumb grip that fits on the hotshoe is good, with regards to setting sjust play with it and see what you like but i ALWAYS have noise reduction set to lowest setting otherwise you get a quite a bad painterly effect on details

Ditto for the thumb grip but it does interfere with the mode dial though making it more difficult to turn. A screw in trigger button is a good idea as well though do it up fairly tight as they do fall out ;-)

Thanks so far all. (y) I'm gradually working my way through the x10/x20/x30 thread too...

I've got/had all 3 of the X?0 compacts and the only accessory that all of them have had fitted is a flower type lens cap that opens as the lens is turned on and zoomed. Got a Gariz (?) 1/2 case for the 10/20 but it makes the base too deep for me to get the card or battery out. Beautifully made piece of kit though! I keep mine on its original neck strap - it's light enough not to need a wider neoprene one. Tried a wrist strap but much prefer the neck one. Had a bigger shutter button too - didn't like it enough to take it off when I sold that camera.

As for settings, I've found that keeping all the custom settings at 0 gives me the results I find most pleasing and large, fine JPEGs print well SOOC. Best thing to do is set a few hours aside to have a good play and see what settings give YOU the results YOU are happiest with, be it raw, JPEG, + or - ? on saturation, sharpening, etc..
