Hi all,

I'm thinking of updating my Canon S95 and am looking at the Fuji XF1.

Does anyone have experience of the Fuji refurb store? Going here seems like a good saving, but having seen some very negative reports of the Sony refurbs, I am slightly hesitant to buy a refurb if the condition is poor.

Thanks

Matt.

I bought my X10 from their referb store. Good price and no problems at all.
Many of the referbs are distance selling returns as unwanted. and are in every respect checked over as new. Others, are ones returned because of minor faults, the module replaced and again are as new. They Have a full new guarantee.

I bought a refurb XF1 and it was as new. All original parts included with only real difference being that the box had Fuji Refurb written on it.

Search for a valid voucher as I Googled and found one and got 10% off.

Thanks all. I have found a 10% code and they also give you half price case and SD cards. Seems like a very good deal with full guarantee included.

I bought a Fuji X10 from there a couple of weeks or so ago using a 10% discount code and was very pleased with it, you would hardly tell it from new other than the box being opened and a sticker saying it was refurb stock.

I have bought a couple of Bridge cameras from them and they are like brand new. I am considering getting an HS30 for my son.

The only difference was as Wibbly said a sticker saying refurb on the box.

I've purchased from them 3 times now and have found the service excellent and the items as new, with the discount codes available and some of the freebies thrown in as well as a full warranty as if the item was new have made them my first stop for Fuji gear now.

+1 - got a cheap EXR660 off them a few years ago as a holiday snap thing - no problems at all

To put a note of realism on the thread, I got a refurb x100 from them last year that was dead on arrival with 3 different faults. They were quick to issue a complete replacement that was perfect, but it was annoying that they sent out a camera that clearly had not been checked at all.

Same here, except I returned two X100s until I got one that worked. First one the lens was totally dead, aperture seized shut, second one terrible banding. Fair enough that the service was pretty good to sort things out, but I'm sure they just send out returns without checking them. If the one you get was returned just because the original owner didn't like it, you should be ok. But check for faults like a hawk as soon as you get it. A very odd setup - I don't think I'd use them again.

Hi
I just bought a 14mm F2.8. Refurbished it looked brand new, boxed with all the bits in brand new bags. Very pleased with my purchase.

I would say the 'realism' comment is misleading and should say 'negativity'. All other comments are true and therefore real. I bought an X10 for myself and it was I mint condition in original box. Also just bought a compact for my grandmother in law and again, as new but I a standard refurb box.

I fully trust that I'll get great value from Fuji.

How is it misleading? It is what happened and, since posting, there has been another comment with a worse experience. Would I use the refurb store again? Probably, but not if the item was in any way time urgent. And, unlike Apple and Dell refurbs that I've used multiple time and have been faultless, I'd go over any item with a fine tooth comb.

I'd generally be fine with a manufacturers refurb mainly because you would assume the product had been tested out - so in theory the fail rate could be less than brand new!

I have twice purchased from the Fuji refurb store and apart from a refurb sticker on the products box id be very hard pushed too tell the difference from new, Also lookout for discount codes as you frequently see likes of 10% codes about ;)

Because to say adding some 'realism' makes it sound like the previous comments didn't have realism... ie they weren't true. That's why I I said that it would have been better to say 'negativity' or balance maybe.

Thanks all for the useful discussion. I think the thread goes in the direction of positive about Fuji. It helps to know that there is a full guarantee included and with quite considerable savings and offers it seems a good option!
