Fuji 10% price increase from March 2013

Fuji's prices already put me off over it's competitors.

I love the look of their slide films, but I'm not a slide film shooter so doesn't really affect me. I do however like Neopan and fuji Pro 400 - I've been able to get good deals to keep prices down, but in general I prefer the cheaper alternatives.

Still, as you say; got to see the positive of staying in business rather than going out of business

Positives over negatives... seems to be the other way in your post? :p

Oh film humour...

I hadn't even considered their E6 prices, which are staggering anyway - was just thinking about stuff like Acros and Neopan really.

It is better for them and us if they manufacture at an economic price and can continue to make profits on film. That way they will continue manufacturing it.
However it is inevitable that choice will continue to reduce.

Ah cock

It's bad enough now. gone are the days when you used to be able to get special offers of 3-Velvia plus E6 mailers for £22.

Tell me about it, I used to just about 2 or 3 years ago buy Velvia 50 in 35mm for about £5 and Provia 400X was about £6.50. Now those prices have nearly doubled to the extent that I've cut down on the amount of slide that I've used each year (although Kodak's prices were more competitive until the end) on top of the develop and mount prices at most labs now reaching over £9 including return postage.

haha, I didn't even think of that :p

I've got a few rolls of fuji slide film in the freezer, but I don't think I'd have got it if it was at retail price!

I'm a neopan fan, but don't personally think it's really worth the cost over tri-x or HP5+. I'll no doubt do my best to stock up where possible before march though. 10% isn't much, but still added cost I'd rather not have.

It's a shame, but most importantly, as already stated, I'd rather pay slightly more and still have the films I want available. I'll be buying a stack of Provia 100F sheet film before March though!

erm wonder if that will affect Agfa Vista (made by Fuji) as if Poundland can't sell it for £1 they wont stock it.

This, I just wish they'd bring back Astia :'(

I've still got Velvia 100F in the freezer I daren't use. Fortunately the S3 made up for it digitally. I know it's not the same technically, but it sure looks the same! The S5 doesn't look the same though which is weird.

I saw one solitary roll of Velvia 100 35mm in Jessops today and was tempted, long date, but it was nearly £12! If it's still there in a post Xmas sale then maybe...

It is probably sensible to sell at economic prices, so long as we the buyers aren't too price sensitive. If it's too expensive, we don't buy, the volume goes down, the price goes up, until the accountants look at it and say stop! Cutting down the range should increase volumes of the ranges that are left, except for losing those ... annoyed ... at losing their favourites, and the price problem as before. :(

Time to stock Agfa Vista.....about 30 rolls should last me a year.

That reminds me, do you (or anyone else) know about developing Agfa Vista in B&W chemicals? Would make a superb cheap test film with B&W chemicals.
