fuel prices & car prices

Since there have been a couple of threads recently about cars and prices, I thought I'd copy this (written by 'pd' on honestjohn). In a conversation about how cheap some desirable motors are getting, starting with discussion about the big Jags and BMWs.

BMW, Audi and Land Rover dealers in particular seem to be inundated with cars at ther moment, all on quite late plates and all with no interest whatsoever.

If you want some examples, CAP knocked 10% off pretty much any A6 petrol in one month, 10% off 6-Series values, over 10% off the already unsaleable Freelander...but most interesting off all 30% (yes, that's thirty) off a ZT 4.6 260 V8 in one month.

All 3 year old 05/05 with 60k. Other notable ONE MONTH drops for the same year:

S-Type: down 9%
Citroen C8: down 8%
Mondeo Diesel: down 7%
Jeep Chorokee Petrol: down 11%
Merc S Class: down 13%
Pug 407 petrol: down 8.5%
Saab 95 petrol: down 9%
Subaru Legacy: 7%
Vauxhall Vectra: down 12
VW Tourag petrol: down 8.5%
VW Beetle petrol: down 11%

These are drops literally from one day to next.

I see oil has gone up again by it's biggest jump so far.

Crude oil in New York surged more than $10 to $139 a barrel on Friday.

It's only going to get worse........

our local petrol station adds an extra 1p to its fuel price every 3 days by my reconning, end of the year we'll ahve prices in excess of 1.50 per litre
