There are times when wildlife photography is incredibly frustrating.

Yesterday afternoon I saw and completely failed to get a shot of several different dragonflies, a hornet moth, a common lizard and an Adder.

The Adder was curled up asleep at the side of the path until I pointed the camera at it when it slithered off into the undergrowth. :bang:

I ended up with a couple of poor insect photos and loads of fungi shots.

I find it mostly like that (not helped by having a dog with me).

Yep, I know that feeling very well. Went fishing the weekend with my boy. Nice lake which happens to be part of a nature reserve. There I am sitting there with an island in the middle of the lake roughly 50ft.

My son shouts, dad did you see that? It's like a humming bird....

I said what?

When I looked it was a Kingfisher, something we don't see a lot of in Essex (Or I'm not going to the right places ) Something I would love to get as well. Anyway, been to this lake many times before never seen one before.

That day I saw it three times, and it was hanging around for about 10 mins each time fishing in front of me - Absolutely gutted I didn't have my gear with me :crying:

I may go back (Less fishing gear) armed with Camera to see if he/she returns.

these days happen! don't worry about it so much and if theres nothing to shoot or you just miss something try not to get frustrated. just try to enjoy being out and about and enjoy nature. thats what i do anyway :)
