Front Coil Springs for Ford Focus

After a days fishing and caught nothing my run of bad luck extended to my Ford Focus 1.8tdi on the way home when the front spring on the drivers side snapped. Unfortunately it was in no condition to drive 20 odd miles home so needed lifted onto the back of a breakdown truck to take it to my garage.

Telling truck driver both the springs were replaced lees than two years ago he said it is a very common problem these days with the metal being used to manufacture the springs is crap steel from China. and probably my other one will go sometime soon.

Can anyone recommend some brands of springs which have decent quality steel where they WILL last, I'm not looking for fancy spriings etc to lower suspension, my days as a boy racer is well over;)
 
I know you say you are not looking to lower your car, but I would strongly recommend a set of Eibach Prokit lowering springs. They are a Ford approved spring, Ford dealers sell them along with many other places. They don't give a harsh ride, because they are a progressive rate spring, but they will improve handling, tyre wear and more controlled braking. You'd need to inform your insurer but it's a small price to pay for all the benefits it provides. I think you may well struggle to find a branded standard replacement.
 
TBH I don't know much about lowering springs, does anything esle need modified such as tyre size, type of struts etc or is it just a straight forward swap between old springs and Eibach Prokit springs . I always thought it was just a cosmetic look, probably cos I'm a old fart :lol::lol:
 
Other than four wheel alignment after the springs are fitted, nothing else needs changing. This is all four springs by the way, not just two, but the set of Eibachs will probably be cheaper than two standard springs from Ford. Drop in height will probably be 30mm.
 
Mine went over a year ago on my Renault Scenic and I just got a pair of springs from ebay for £44 delivered and replaced them myself, they are best replaced as a pair.

Renault wanted £180 to only do one!!
 
late to the party, but KYB offer standard springs for most vehicles, and very good they are too.
 
I swear by Monroe, you can get springs from them for £60 ish for your car look Here I did not know the year of your car but this is an example
