Yes
In the past a badger has climbed on top of the log but this time it wasn't so lucky. After running off it realised the escape route was a dead end and so had to come past the thing that 'attacked' it. I thought it was quite funny that it gave the log a wide berth and didn't hang about when getting away.

Later in the night the pine marten was confused by the change it its usual routes on to the bird table - ie climb on the standing log and jump, or bounce off the wall at the left and spring from the log, but eventually it succeeded by another route.

Yes, we are very lucky. The pine martens visit most nights, the badgers not quite as often. Although we see one or two visits ourselves each night , the trail cameras are very useful.

Yes, Jan.

It is amusing seeing young pine martens trying to get on the bird table when they aren't big enough to jump from the log.

They try climbing, like the one in the video, but until they get strong enough they can't manage it and eventually slide down the post.

Once they are big enough there is no problem and sometimes jump from the shed to the house roof and arrive on the bird table from above.

Until the last few days it has been mild here but I saw a touch of snow on Beinn Alligin this morning.

We had a hedgehog visit every night for a while but we've not seen him recently, I hope he's hibernating.

There is a good chance. I can't remember exactly but I think it is usually sometime in November when hedgehogs stop appearing in our garden for a few months.

We bought a house for him so hopefully he'll move in next year.

That would be good. Hope you have more success than we did with animal house/boxes. We had a bird box on the side of the house for about seven years and got nothing in it. The neighbours had sparrows in theirs the first year after they put it up.

Last year I put up three bird boxes at the bottom of our garden. This year two of them housed wasps nests !
