I saw this on another forum. It is free (there is an option to pay for an upgrade but it doesn't look worth it to me)

I've worked through the first part of the course. It is fairly basic but that is to be expected and I guess it might get a bit more complicated as it goes on, but its free.

Nice one, there's loads of other good courses (non-photography and weather related) that I've signed up for. Good find, cheers.

Those who know of me in here (yes, it's been a while since I last posted in here) will know that I do have something of a head start in the world of amateur meteorology. :naughty:

Basically, it's all about breaking it down into three categories.

1) Understanding how weather works (what makes clouds and learning their different types, why does it rain, snow, hail, etc? What's the difference between cold and warm fronts? High and low pressure systems. The different layers of the troposphere and their characteristics, etc, etc).
2) Keeping weather records (it can be as simple as just observing the daily weather and temps in your local area to trying to collect data for the whole globe).
3) This is probably the most challenging and that is trying to forecast the weather based on what you have picked up in No 1 and No 2. However, unlike the first two categories which are based on actual applied sciences, this one is what's called an "inexact science" since it is based on well educated guesswork derived from computer calculations and even human instincts/experience.

Have fun . . . and good luck!
