Hi All
Just a wee pointer to comp - brief

"the competition sets a brief for photographers to explore life in towns and cities during any single hour of a 24 hour day"
Theme looks really suited to lots of TP shooters.

1st prize as stated - Jordan Hol plus 2 other prizes to be worked out ( probably week long hols), also 24 other phot related prizes, pods, cameras etc.)

I won this comp last year and have been asked to sit in as one of the judges.
Still a few things to be put in place, but thought I'd give you guys plenty of time to think about / get some shots in the bag.

Good luck if you decide to enter :)

Hi,

I suppose you couldn't contact the organisers of the competition as the terms and conditions and contact us are not working.

Hi Movilla
Did say "Still a few things to be put in place, but thought I'd give you guys plenty of time to think about / get some shots in the bag.

Site and details still being worked on - be patient

The only reason I want to see the terms for entering is because I want to know if past employees of CBRE are allowed to enter or not - I used to work for them you see. No point in taking some shots if I am not allowed to enter.

Employees of CB Richard Ellis, their families, and any employee or relative of any of the sponsors may NOT enter this competition. Please also be aware that images that have won prizes in other competitions are not eligible for this competition.

As far as I'm aware, I can't see why you can't enter, unless you shot the boss or something

This looks interesting. but I cant recall the hours I took some of my pics, does that matter? :D

I think if the pic fits the hour you've chosen then it'll be just perfect.
Good luck if you decide to enter.

Time might be on the exif :rules:

Edit: Quoted wrong person but you get the idea :)

As far as I'm aware you enter a pic for that hour and when it was taken is neither here nor there.
If worried remove EXIF info, save and enter... an hope the FBI are not involved in checking shots

do the images have to be shot in the Uk ?

Can you find out if the image has to be: 1024 x 768.

I have one which is 1014 by 685.

Hi onikami

As far as I'm aware, I don't think there's any leeway on image size, so I don't think it would be eligible - sorry.
I also think if your shot is a winner of one of the big prizes you have to be able to supply a hi-res file.
However if you were going for one of the 24 hr prizes I don't think you need anything other than size entered, so maybe you could just extrapolate the file in PS to get the required dimensions (or you could just clone in a little around one side). Seems only a few pixels away.
Good luck with it !

cheers, Rock.

Submitted a couple.

try to swing it my way ;):D

Thanks for the heads up RS, I've submitted a few, I did notice it's not worldwide - but Europe, Middle East and Africa.

Thanks for letting us know! Now if you would PM me your address and favourite kind of biscuit/chocolate/other bribeworthy goods, could I improve my chance of getting a holiday? :D

On a more serious note, I took some shots at odd times of day while on holiday last week, so I might give it a go! Thanks a lot,

Chris

Edit: Also, when is the closing date? I had a quick look but couldn't see it, but that might just be me being dense!

OPENING AND CLOSING DATES

All images must be received between midnight on the 17th September 2009 to midnight on the 4th December 2009.

Good Luck, Chris.

Thanks for the heads up - I like the brief on this and might have a crack:thumbs:

Sorry for being a thicko, but am I right to think you enter whichever time category you wish, and then should you win that category you go forward to the grand prize section?

I'd guess many of the prizes are not yet sorted as many seem to be just write ups on the sponsors?

A lot of the hourly prizes, I have no idea what is on offer as it doesn't state what exactly the prizes are?

By entering, competitors agree to the use of The Image File upload and for their images to be held on The Images File databases.

What does that mean?

Hi All

Let me just give some info about this "Comp heads Up" I started :

I won the comp last year and was invited to join the judging panel for this year. I am not in daily contact with the organisers, although I do have contact with the guy running the web side of things.
Last year there were no problems and all the winners got their prizes from the sponsors as did the 3 top winners.
So, as far as I'm aware, there is no problem with the comp.
The company running the show is a very large property company whose business is the letting of commercial properties such as large shopping centres / malls - you can easily check them out on the web.

You can enter up to 24 pix, one for each of the 24 hrs.
There is a prize for each hr plus the three top prizes. If you are the winner of one of the hrs you will be considered for one of the top 3 prizes and should you be chosen there, then whoever was seconds in the hour you were winner of will be awarded the prize for that hour.
Hope that's clear.

Think there is still some negotiations going on with hourly prize sponsors.

What does that mean?

Not quite sure - will see if I can get some more info.

What does that mean?

Hi Itti

I've had a reply from the guy running the show concerning the issues above and also pointed out that 2nd and 3rd prize wasn't too clear.
here is a snippet from his response :

"Thanks for your point - I have removed the ref to the image file - whom we used as a data backend last year.
This was an oversite on behalf of the person reading the rules.
Re some prizes need sorting. I shall amend the 2nd and 3rd prizes to read properly today - as per your last note."

Hope things are clearer / better.

Cheers

2 weeks with Jordan, that's almost as long as Peter Andre managed!

Now who to take, another chap to take the load off, or my wife?

I have tried to upload some shots this morning. I have been rejected three times. The error message states that they should be in JPG format.....I have checked this and used both lower and upper case.....??

Would someone please kindly post a link as to this comp.

Thank you

Hi Trappe
Sorry to hear you had prob.
You may have been trying to upload when site was being updated.
Check your file size is Ok and have another go.

Just out of interest Rockshifter did you enjoy your top prize? Excellent achievement winning a big competition. Did you go to Jordan or did you get something different?

Hi BC
I went to Marrakech.
I was asked to do a wee promo for the comp which I sent in. I don't see it on the site but here it is anyway. I think it should satisfy your curiosity.
I was given the option of spending the £5K anyway i liked so I took the whole family for a week.
If you look on the site there are some pix from the trip ( the first is the old guy sitting with the cyclist in BG).

Hi everyone,

If you’re reading this you must be thinking how wonderful it would be to win one of the top prizes up for grabs in this fantastic photography competition.

Last year, about this time, that’s exactly what I was thinking.

Well you know the rest.
You can imagine how exciting it was to be called and told your shot was selected as the overall winner. I was over the moon.

The Glasgow press ran a full, two page spread on the story and for week afterwards I was being congratulated by friends, neighbours and even strangers at my local supermarket – strange, but nice.

A couple of weeks passed and the competition organiser were discussing my stay at the Riad Si Said, in Marrakech, which was voted the 4th best hotel in the World to stay in 2008.
I checked out some tourist guides and decide what I’d like to see and do on the trip and CBRE Richard Ellis quickly set about arranging the whole fantastic trip:

Personal guide, Chauffeur-driven jeep trip to High Atlas Mountains with huge banquet lunch in opulent five star plus Mountain retreat, traditional gourmet Moroccan dinners, eating out at exotic Marrakech restaurants, guided visits to Marrakech’s top tourist, must see attraction… the list goes on.
Unfortunately I am excluded from this year’s competition, but I am delighted to have been invited on to this year’s judging panel.

The competition and prizes are fantastic and I think you’ll agree, the competition provides a great incentive and challenge to get out there, shoot your best ever shots and enter your images – You’ve got nothing to lose and everything to gain.

Start shooting now and enter !
I had a fantastic holiday last year and you could too.

Good luck to all !

Look forward to seeing your best shots.

...Apologies for War & Peace answer.

Just a wee heads up for anyone wishing to enter comp.
Closes 4th December - Good Luck !

Oh I remember you winning this last year, was a lovely shot too!

Are they gonna 'extend' the time again?

Dec 4 - definately have time for a few entries again this year

Don't think so.

Any chance I could see your winning shot from last year Rockshifter? It's an intriguing theme and I'm quite tempted to get some shots for it!

Sure
It's on the comp site for all to see.
Not the greatest shot I've ever taken - guess it just fitted the remit.
You can also have a look at some of the shots taken from the trip (Marrakech) if interested.

Ace shot and I'm not just saying that. It's the kind of photo that will probably mean more in twenty years time than it does now and that's always a good thing in my eyes. :) I'll definitely try and get something together for it, although the standard looks to be very high.

You'll have to get a move on - Good luck with it !

Just been told comp deadline now extended to 31 Jon., 2010.
