I can only surmise that in your area there are camera clubs with members who concentrate on wildlife and as such could introduce you to hides and locales?

What is the longest lens that you have, as though longer the better is needed for birds even animals need decent length.....both of the following images were cropped to create the composition and IIRC I use my 40-150 & x1.4 TC on my Olympus mFT so in full frame equivalance that would be maximum 420mm

FWIW and not your area I went to a hide in Sussex and this image

and this one

Were taken at that hide location during an approx 3 hour late afternoon/evening session.

They are both on canvases that I had made @Tradecanvasprint and one copy of the cub has sold and I am due to get a reprint for an upcoming exhibition.

HTH is of some help?

If you live in a town in many parts of the UK if you have access to a garden you should be able to take a photo with a bit of patience.

I took this in a London suburb - ideally you want a garden going slightly up - easier on your body.
Try to think about the background before you start to wait for a fox to turn up - put a soft toy or something in various parts of the garden and photograph them to see why the photo looks like.
Good luck.

A good point about the almost ubiquitous urban fox and potential opportunities to see and photograph them.

Best time is the early hours of the morning when few people are out, find a large park with lots of bushes. You would need a longish lens in this instance.

Thank you.
I once heard that there are towns which still don't have them. I know that for example Bath in the 90s didn't. Whilst in London you could see them in the 80s (if not earlier).
It is possible that my information is out of date and every town in the UK has them.

Dave, IE thread starter you still here?

Put an advert in the paper asking for a fox to pose for you!
Nah just buy some peanuts and wait a while ;) Fox is not urban !!

Hi,
are you wanting to purchase a fox image or print, or go out and take one your self ! ?

I have recently been to a fox hind and have ton of images I have not yet put on IG.
There are some slightly older ones, please look here;

If you want to take your own photos of foxes I would strongly suggest going to your nearest fox hide.

Well @9f/dave was last here yesterday at 12:06pm and hopefully he will pop in here to update the thread as to his responses to the his OP
