My friend has found this it has a film in it that has 6 photos taken on it of his late Mother, Must be at least 10 years old What is the chance of them being any good? Nil I should think.

Did you miss a picture? Should still be able to get images off camera as long as no one's opened the back and foggged it.

If the frame counter still shows 6 then there is a good chance than the door hasn't been opened, as depending on the make of the camera, they usually reset to 0 when opened.

There is a very good chance of getting a reasonable image on a film that is 10 years old. I recently found an old camera that I had forgotton about that had film in that had been exposed about 15 years ago, the film was developed and the pictures we ok.

Thanks for the quick replies, Will let him know it's worth a try.

Double post.

10 years is nothing, for ordinary colour negative or B&W film its possible to recover films exposed 2+ decades ago so long as they've not been kept in a hot environment etc. O.K there may be colour casts, increased grain etc but usually the images will be somewhat viewable and casts etc can be easily corrected (slide film is usually much more sensitive though).

There have been some really amazing films recovered in the past such as pre WW2 Dufaycolor films (although this was by a specialist old film recovery lab)

You could use the rest of the film up before paying for dev :)

I found an old film 35mm canister recently, developed it and found it was from a trip to India in 1988!

It was fine.

I did that with my old comapct, the shots that were about 7 years old were good but the recent shots had a bad colour cast to them so I would still go for it.

I got photos off a roll of c-22 film that was older than me by developing in rodinal. They were not great but I was surprised at what did come out!
