We were once told that we dont need common sense (in a sorting office) as we were thereto do as we were told, not what we thought. It soon backfired on the manager though as he very quickly had a long queue outside his office asking what to do next!

This was about a thing called BLUE ZONE dots on frames, saying where you should be at 1pm for next day specials, if they were beyond that then you could ask for assistance, except that everyone else would be out on delivery too
Most deliveries are circular so you can cross out and get there on time but of course that is common sense and we shouldn't know how to do it

That takes me back Ingrid, I never was where I was supposed to be when I worked at the Bath MLO. I never got reprimanded for it though, the inspectors would always be amazed at how many different excuses I could come up with
