Also if anybody is up for a morning meet tomorrow then let me know.

Omnomnomnomnomnomnom...

I'm hoping to go looking again in July. If you believe some of the reports from locals you would just fall over them there is so many. In reality they seem to be a little harder to find than expected and in less numbers too. I've send two different reports, the numbers vary wildly depending on which side of the fence you sit. I spent a whole day pervious looking and saw nothing :( saw some of the verges they left behind!

I usually go mountain biking there every week and have seen loads when out on the bike sometimes in very busy area's ( the main MTB trails) and some off the beaten track. Having seen the boar in a certain area I have been back the next day with the camera and ..........never once have I seen them to photograph. The problem in the summer is the fern/bracken they can quickly disappear into it and having seen the size of the adults it would be unwise to follow them but then we have stopped for a rest when biking and have heard them in the undergrowth probably no more than 20feet away. I will be back out this month to try and photograph them again, fingers crossed.

Very interesting. Never knew about them.

Some of them are very large - they can be seen near Cannop Pond quite regularly - there was a small sounder of them a few years ago that got quite tame due to being fed all the time - unfortunately they made an easy target for the cull:(

Boar sleep mostly in the day although some don't,. I live in the south of France and there's loads here, never seen one in the day and I never walk in the country at night, alway drive slowly in the country side as well as I wouldn't like to hit one with my car although there's been a few close calls. Agree with above, don't get too close, they can and will cause lots of damage. Long lens recommended.
