Over the last few days I have been getting this error - random and short-lived but obviously something adrift somewhere.
Has been a variety of different threads and mostly goes on a retry.

Are you accessing the site with the without the "www" prefix, eg. talkphotography.co.uk rather than www.talkphotography.co.uk please check your browser bookmarks and not just the browser address bar as talkphotography.co.uk redirects to www.talkphotography.co.uk so that is what the browser address bar will show

It's a long-standing browser bookmark that I use to login initially and that is linked to https://www.talkphotography.co.uk.
However it also occurs from within the forum when I am already logged in and clicking on a 'New Posts' link.
 
Same issue here, it’s always when navigating around the site using its buttons (rather than initially getting to it),
 
Hmm, I've never seen the problem so its really hard to diagnose

Thanks, that hopefully narrows it down a bit or at least gives me a scenario to investigate

The other scenario is when I open alerts with a right click to use a new tab. TBH I haven't had it for a day or 2 now and I thought it was my computer rather than a bug in the Forum.
 
Had it again a couple of minutes ago. Notifications link then new posts both showed it. Then it went.
 
I get it repeatedly - almost never when on the ipad (Safari) but almost every session I go on with firefox on my main computer - I usually get one or two clicks through to topics then get the error...

Are you able to look through the error logs on the server - it should record the issue
 
I haven't seen it on Mac with Firefox. Only seen it on safari iOS but not so far since the last changes.
 
Had it several times today clicking links from 'New Posts' page.
 
Had it several times in a row just now. The forbidden items look to be people's avatars.

I've never had it on my Windows 11 PC using Firefox, I wonder if it's somehow network related rather than site related? I'm no techie, just guessing.
 
The site won't let me on on my ipad today.
No problems with desktop.

Your ipad is redirecting via apple cloud private relay whereas your desktop (assuming a PC) isn't. We have had issues with the Apple Relay as it is pretty much a proxy server.

@Tori_T any thoughts?
 
@srichards I can't see any errors for your listed IP Addresses where I can for some others on this thread so I'm not sure what is happening in your case.
 
Ah, you're on your desktop ATM, I meant with your iOS device.

The issue is that to our server it looks like we are getting a lot of requests from a single IP address and so the shields go up to rate limit those requests.
