apologies if this is a dumb question :suspect:

my sons sunday footie league

focus point, what would you use,

selected point say centre ? or activate all focus points shoot at F8 and hope you get enough deph of field from the nearest player, problem i would thought with second option if the player behind is too far back then dof would be lost

hope that makes sense

40D+70-200 F4

Many thanks Bob

AI Servo
Centre point only
f2.8 to f/4
Evaluative metering
If relativly inexperienced shoot AWB and AV mode.

Thank you Gary will try those setting tomorrow

Dont people find with AI servo, if you are at 200mm looking at the other end of the pitch, people in the foreground can move across the action and interfere with the focusing?

I personally use single shot and just keep tapping away to track focus, then full press to get the shot (fully pressed from a fully de-pressed position so theres no delay between hitting focus and shutter releasing). This would be a problem with continuous burst, but seeing as i only get 3fps, i might aswell use single shot. I just find my AI servo to be a bit pants, but then it depends how good you body and lens are. I use a Tamron 55-200mm so maybe thats why.

So how did the game go?

Dont know how many other cameras have this feature but I (and most others on here) set tracking sensitivity to slow so someone can run accross my player but focus stays on my player and doesnt jump to the one crossing..
