Yes
So Villa are playing Everton on Sunday-Easter Sunday- and the local bible bashers are kicking up a fuss

So blimmin what!!!:bang:

Just because some story in a novel has deemed it a special day doesn't mean that the nation has to grind to a halt - not that I have any intension of going but detest the way followers of these mythical stories get to determine what others do:bang:

I do tend to agree with you, but, each to their own. A great many people gain a lot of strength from religion.

But it's not Sunday that is the special day - it's the Monday. Good Friday....3 days later is Monday???? No? or do I need to go back to Sunday school:thinking:

I'm Catholic and we celebrate Friday and Monday. Sunday might be Easter Sunday but it's Monday for us that is the day as that is the day that He rose.

Edit - definitely should have paid more attention in Sunday school as it's 2 days later He rose so that would be the Sunday but surely then that's a celebration so people celebrate by doing something they love and if that's football (sad, wrong shaped ball - needs to be egg shaped) then so be it.

Friday is the day for reflection etc

Here we go, from Wikipedia:

Some groups feel that Easter (or, as they prefer to call it, "Resurrection Sunday" or "Resurrection Day") is something to be regarded with great joy: not marking the day itself, but remembering and rejoicing in the event it commemorates—the miracle of Christ's resurrection.

Easter sunday is a big day for me.

I playing in a top of the table football match and then attending a good mates wedding.

As for the religious stuff. Not my bag. But believers should not expect the world to stop so they can do their thing, everyone should have the choice.

Richard Dawkins---The God Delusion--Should be compulsory reading for anyone brainwashed by Religion in their youth. What a peaceful world we would all live in without organised Religions.
