Update, Now he says they were hounded all night, and the tog even came into the restaurant and were ejected!! which is why he lost his temper!!!

If it were not for the paps they wouldnt have a Celeb status.. well, not as much anyway, how do you think all the pics of celebs end up in the mags ect.. people want to see them so someone has to take the pics!!

Truth be told, it would have been better if he HAD smacked him!! he'd have got NICKED!! now that would have been a whole better story!

Not that having some nastly little scrotes GOB all over your back isnt bad enough!! :annoyed:

I do not think Wayne Rooney wants to be a celeb. actually it is the press which makes people celebs for printing/publishing, photos/stories.

Fraggle you are a good tog and take good shots but would you like to go out with the family and be CONSTANTLY pursued by people ALWAYS trying to get something for nothing,? IE; a picture of some female getting out of a car knickerless? Surely she has the right to go commando without being published?

I also know that your argument is 'They can't have it both ways' (publicity)

There is a time for and a place for everything and unfortunately paparazzi is for me the lowest form of photography and I hope the little guy who was supposedly spat on realises that sometimes you should be at home tucked up in bed.

Paparazzi photography is not reportage.

Well said Tiler - it's the public that buy the damned mags and red-tops that encourage the paparazzi to ply their trade and hassle people trying to get a bit of peace and quiet.
Admittedly there are quite a lot of celebs who bring it on themselves but let's not paint them all the same colour.
 
Mostly these restaurants are known celeb haunts, so they know that they are covered by the paps on a regular basis... and so know there is a likleyhood of them getting snapped, would you goto a pplace that snappers hang out if you DIDNT want to be snapped?

AFAIC if you sign up to be a celeb then you become public property to an extent.. if you go out IN PUBLIC then you are going to be photographed, so get used to it!! it not like they were harrassed! a few pics were taken when they left the place.. thats it..

The guy earns 80 THOUSAND pounds a WEEK!! he is owned by all the fathers and sons that spend their hard earned money on seeing a thug like him PLAY football! its a GAME!!! i dont feel these footballers earn their keep at the best of times! and now they dont want people to take their picture!! i dont think so..

Why should going to out for a meal need to covered by the press?

Why do members of the public think footballers are celebs?

Why do members of the public think that because they paid for a ticket to a match that thay have the right to own/abuse/praise a player (any sport).

AFAIC The above mentioned footballer did not sign up for bieng a celeb, he signed to become a professional footballer.

And one last point if the so called pap needs a close up why dosen't he buy a better zoom lens so he is well out of spitting distance.
 
So, he didnt know that by becoming a pro footballer he didnt know he'd get a kings ransom in cash every week and would be a household name?? i know he's a thick SOB but come on.. i think you are a little off target with this.. i dont think it'd be a suprise to me if id become popular after playing for a premiership club AND the national team.. these guys have ALWAYS been celebs.. even in the days of black and white tv.. so why would you think he's not signed up to be a celeb?? its part of the job!!

The animal wasnt being hounded.. he had a couple of pics taken of him.. thats it.. no-one got in his face.. he just got nasty.. and the pap in question had walked away from him to give him MORE space and to calm the situation.. 5 mins later HE came at the tog and spat!!.. think whatever you like, that was uncalled for and a complete ove reaction.. confirming my thoughts on the bloke.. you dont want to here them.. lol..

Can the low life of a pap prove it?

Why are you against somebody earning lots of money for actually doing something (unlike a pap who is freeloading off other peoples fortunes)?

I wouldn't mind being thick and earning a guessed £80000 a week.

Why do the paps not chase Paul Scholes? He was in the same place but there are no pictures of him and his wife.

Paps are in a dirty business. They tell lies to get stories. Editors of rags have gone to jail for telling lies. Everyday I can pick out 20 apologies in the papers where they have to back down on a story. (these are small little pieces that hardly ever get noticed unlike The original Headline)

Papping is not photography.
 
Being a footballer isn't just about what you do on the pitch. It's a 24/7 job hence the wages. Ther is no clocking in or clocking out, If rooney wants to cry about it then theres a simple answer.. You don't see bin men being papped.

i only WISH id got a shot of him spitting.. but i was there and he wsant provoked! he was in a bad mood and did what came naturaly.. Money cant buy class eh!!
 
This is an interesting thread. Nice story tony, you seemed to know about it before it happened. Oh hold on, I just read the last post before mine.

Wayne Rooney has been given a deal by mercedes benz to drive their cars. They would not do that if they didn't want Wayne to be photographed by photographers while Wayne Rooney is driving it. And surely Wayne would know that Mercedes wants him to be photographed driving it, to increase exposure of the car brand. Thats the whole point of sponsership deals of this kind, to have known names seen with the brand.
 
I read in the paper yesterday the on average Britney Spears has 35 paparazzi following her.

Even if I was expecting to be photographed using my sponsors goods I think I'd snap & chin one eventually .

Shame - did you not used to be a photographer?

Papping or 'monstering' as it is known in the industry.

I don't care about Rooney, more about people purporting to be photographers really.

I think wyne and Colleen would be more concerned if they didn't get papped, cos they would stop being in the public eye, and stop making so much money.......

Haha.. iv not seen that for ages!! well done to the pap.. i wonder if anything ever came of it? im sure if he made such a fuss over a scratch on his Bentley then a nut in the face would surley have been reported?? No?? perhaps his 'People' advised him correctly and just went home.. what a loser!! but i like his music.. but he is.... well, Nuff said..
