There's a three way switch low down on the back of the camera, to the right of the screen.
To get single point focusing, set this switch to the lower position. The middle position will give you a single point which will track the subject, but I find that too difficult to keep control of for team games.
Make sure the switch on the front of the camera is set to continuous focus mode too.
