Hi all,

well i tried buying a ticket for foo fighters this morning and i got some but my sisters card failed to work i was fairly annoyed after waking up early to get tickets. Luckily a friend has bought one that i can buy off him for a decent price....

... and now the rant begins, i was looking on ebay at the tickets and it realy annoys me (to put in polite terms) that people buy tickets for a gig just to make a huge profit from fans that couldn't buy tickets because these people who sell them on ebay have bought them all. I personally think that this is extremely wrong and something lawfully should be done about.

let me know your thoughts

Dave

Yes, I agree that this is wrong. It's not just concert tickets either, but stuff like games consoles or the latest must have toy. Really makes my blood boil but there will always be sharks like this in society unfortunately. Anything to make a quick profit or unlawfully get money from people.

IIRC ebay actually put a stop to this with the sale of tickets for Live Earth (I think it was), but only after bowing to pressure from the organisers. It's within their power to do something about it but I doubt they would unless enough people protested enough to embarras them into it:shrug:

Didn`t work for the people who bought PS3`s with the intention on making money though!

simple case of supply and demand

I cant see anything wrong with it, you bought off m8 at decent price does that mean it was for more than face value??

If you find you cant go to concert, say work commitments decide to put your tickets on ebay 40 people want to see concert, price rockets to £300 per ticket. Dilemma... would your consience dictate you sold at face value or the inflated £300 price....... emmm where did my conscience go lol

It happens at every major event, its simple supply & demand

I don't think that is what the original poster meant.... My take on this is when you see (for example) a £50 concert ticket on Ebay for £300. If people are stupid enough to bid up to that amount, then fair enough, but it's when people get greedy and have £300 as the starting bid.

When the XBox 360 first came out, people were putting them on EBay for a 'Buy it now' price of anything from £500 - £1K.

But fair enough they buy there ticket then realise they cant go later one maybe due to work or familly whatevers but im talking about people buying to sell

Its like has already been said - Supply and demand.

If I could buy 10 tickets at £50 and sell them for £100 I would,

People arnt forced to buy the tickets, Its not life and death its only an event.

I think what the poster is getting at is the true fans are losing out to scum bags.

Excactly my point, shows and concerts arent there so some **** (person) can make a massive profit just because they can buy the tickets faster than the proper fans

I think minimeeze hit it right in post 'if people are stupid enough'

If someones being too greedy they just wont sell. you could ask for a £1000 if someone buys it then they are the fool.

Its just tough, If they dont get what they want they just chuck their toys out saying its not fair, as far as i see it first come first served, everyone has the same chance of buying the tickets.

It's a free market economy. These touts don't force anyone to buy tickets off them. If you don't think it's worth £300 then don't pay for it.

I don't think a pair of Levis are worth 20 time the price of a pair of tesco jeans, that does not mean Levi are scum bags, just that some folk have more money than sense.
