Folder order

Been asked to put together a slideshow from the wedding abroad for display at evening reception which im also taking pics at, have compiled a new folder and placing in order a combination of the parents pics, but whatever i do it keeps reverting to numerical order, even after selecting all and renaming it does so in original numerical order, this has cost me 2 nights work so urgent advice would really be appreciated

Can't say I fully understand the bit about selecting all and renaming, but if it insists on sorting by numerical order, is there a problem renumbering them in the correct order? Alternatively, has the program been set to sort by, say, time taken perhaps?
