There's always a first time for everything

Good luck to all the 52 first timers and anybody doing a 365.

Good luck Scott. I think we will need a lot of that in the coming months :)

Cheers David, will look forward to your 365.

Good luck Scott. I think we will need a lot of that in the coming months :)

We don't need any luck we've been trained by DD

Good luck Scott. Lets see how many motor sport photo's you manage to get in somehow ;)

:D No motor sport at all, it's my only rule, but then again I'm a rule breaker.

Good luck Scott- Will be watching with anticipation. Rob

Thought I would keep this one simple :D this popped in to my mind straight away, played with DOF but felt getting the majority of the mixer in focus worked better.

After a great suggestion from Arthur  a B&W conversion

Sharp, crisp, clear with good reflections- first ones a winner Scott. Rob

crikey that's good
and the bathroom looks remarkably clean (or new??)

That's far too clean - want to come round my house and sort it out for me!

Nice subject - if it were me I'd possibly be tempted to do a little PS trickery on it - just select the mixer unit, invert the selection and do a lens blur filter on it to make it stand out a bit more, but that's me being picky!

Keep it simple. Always a good rule to follow!!

I like shots of chrome. Always trying to see what's reflected in it. And there's lots of curves in the reflections too.

I'm trying to add more than "great shot" to my comments... So....

Was the plug accidental or deliberate?
The hose is a little distracting disappearing off the bottom of the shot. Not a lot you can do about that though :)
The composition is great for me. Would make a great product shot.

Did you think about maybe turning the tap on and trying a long/short exposure?

Ian.

Great start, love the extra curve that the plug adds on a very suttle way. Good luck, only another 51 to go.

Thats the only clean bit, after a polish ;)

Cheers Nick, haven't tried any serious PP yet just using NX2 to tweak.

Ian.

Plug was already there so decided to leave it as it's chrome.
Agree about the hose.
No didn't think about turning the tap on. :D

Cheers, the mixer is from the company I work for and its the high end luxury stuff(but got it REALLY cheap) so the chrome quality is supurb.

Clever start Scott, not the easiest to shoot is chrome ;)

Thank you Alby

ooooh - I like this!
Lots of curves and lots of shiny chrome
You've controlled the lighting and reflections really well. Great start to your 52 and I'm looking forward to seeing more from you.

Wasn't sure at first, well out of my comfort zone. Hopefully I haven't peaked too soon. Thank you Sarah

Good shot, crisp and clean. Did you try it with the tap turned on?

Thank you..........er no I'm on a meter ;)

nice start scott.. can only echo whats already been said!

look forward to seeing more :)

Very cool - tried it in BW yet? I find chrome is gerat without the colour - looks very little different but you get to play with mood and texture easier.

I reckon this was a daytrip to B+Q myself - *nobody's* bathroom can be that clean...

and did you get out the bath LOl

Nice shot lovely and fresh
Thankyou
Used live view leaning over the bath to try and keep myself out of the reflections, you can just make out a Liverpool FC badge on a black sweat shirt.

Nice tap, good spot too for the theme ;)
Cheers

Thankyou.

I like that... while I know its your bathroom I would have liked to see a bit of a contrast in the titles.... eg a bit of a darker shade to bring out the shape of the mixer more.... imho mind you... /Runs been a noob

All advice taken onboard.

Just tried the b&w conversion and you are right it does make it a better shot.

Thanks

Nice. Very nice actually - even better than I thought it would be!

Arthur

Being a bit simple...i've got myself confused.....do we use the theme curved, or is that personal choice...and do we start a thread of our own and add to it each week?

crikey B&W works a treat!

Love the B&W Scott As said I always look in the reflections. I'm sure you have lost some weight since I last saw you  Look forward to next weeks offering.

Just spent a good 5 minutes trying to see your reflection in the taps.

Nicely done, the B&W conversion is great.

I think the B&W works much better but it looks a little off straight to me, leaning to the left. Easily fixed in PS though.

I think you're right. Loved the original, but the chrome has an extra bit of sparkle in B&W.

Cheeky plucker... 2 weeks off work for xmas has not been kind to the waist line :(

Thanks again for all your comments and trying hard to get to every one else.

The b&w edit is a cracker. Shiny shiny shiny! And not a hint of your reflection in there anywhere. Perhaps you're a vampire?

Week 2 poetry, going to get this one out of the way quickly. Not really cheating as I have only one rule :D. Took this shot Friday and with a crop to give it the panoramic look. Found a poem that fits the shot so as the question goes which came first the chicken or the egg?

Poem
by Michelle Pride

Sunset is bold
Beautiful and sole.
Sunset is beautiful
Wherever you go.
Sunset is romantic
Lovely for sure,
Sunset is when
Night takes it's toll.
Sunset is a sight
but doesn't last for long.
So come at and see the sunset
before it's gone.
