Yes
Been watching a few vids and reading and im not sure if im thinking about this the right way but this is what I think my options are.

indoor with static subject I can put cam on tripod set my XT2 to focus bracketing, create a stack and then take to LR then to photoshop to do the final bits.

In the field if a subject is still I could hand hold the XT2 same settings but probably with fewer shots set in menu and see how it goes.

or set drive to highFPS and just move camera focus from front of subject to back by just moving it closer over the short fire sequence.,this is what confuses me a little, surely the first of the two options would be easier, just let the camera do the work?

would welcome some advice here please.
also would Helicon?? be a better choice for stacking?

thanks

I'm pretty certain you will get unreliable results handheld using focus bracketing - personally I would always use on a tripod. As with most braketing the camer wants to be dead still

Surely moving teh camera backwards/forwrads will change teh size of the target relative to the sensor.

I don't focus stack very often so I'm not the best person to answer this really, but I'd say let the camera do the work. If you're trying to change the focus while you shoot a burst it would probably be more likely to result in camera movement.
