Focus preset feature - anyone use it?

I've never used this feature of my 300 2.8 IS. Any of you sports togs use this and if so how do you get the best out of it?

Hi tony, to be honest i'm struggling to find a use for it. I just thought i'd check I wasn't missing out on a useful feature for Sports.

I also don't bother with the IS feature. If only I could get Canon to take these features off the lens in return for some money back

I think preset is more use for nature shooters to be honest... I do use IS in very extreme cicumstances.. but like you i would prefer it wasnt on and the lens cheaper..

I've used it ocassionally for motorsport but not a lot else...preset focus on the apex of a corner and then wait for someone to come into it!

I've used it at Wimbledon when I was hoping from a reaction shot from the friends/coaches (set on the preset) but was following the action.
