I’ve just bought the OM 5 and am delighted with it…mostly. I cannot see where you choose the colour for focus peaking, having chosen it to help with distance and close-ups, in fact I cannot see any indication that it’s in use. Have I overlooked or not made the correct setting. Any advice gratefully appreciated.

As no one else has replied... I don't know anything about Olympus so I Googed and this is what came up...

To adjust focus peaking level and color on an Olympus OM-5, navigate to the "Manual Focus Assist" settings in the camera's menu. Within this menu, you can select "Peaking" to enable the feature and choose your desired color and intensity level. You can also map a button to toggle focus peaking on and off.

Here's a more detailed breakdown:
  1. 1. Access Manual Focus Assist:
    • Press the menu button on your OM-5.

    • Navigate to the "Shooting" menu.

    • Go to "Manual Focus Assist".
  2. 2. Enable Peaking:
    • Select "Peaking" within the Manual Focus Assist menu.

    • Ensure it's set to "On".
  3. 3. Choose Peaking Settings:
    • Go back to the Manual Focus Assist menu and select "Peaking Settings".

    • Color: Choose your preferred color for the focus peaking overlay (e.g., red, yellow, white, black).

    • Intensity: Adjust the intensity of the peaking display (e.g., high, standard, low).
  4. 4. Optional: Assign Peaking to a Button:
    • You can assign focus peaking to a button for quicker access.

    • Find the "KButton Function" or "nButton Function" menu and select "Peaking".
  5. 5. Using Focus Peaking:
    • When you're in manual focus mode (AF+MF or Manual focus), the focus peaking overlay will appear.

    • As you turn the focus ring, the overlay will highlight the areas in focus.
This video demonstrates how to use focus peaking on a mirrorless camera:

I hope that helps.

Thank you. I tried that but although I could choose Peaking on or off I didn't see where you chose the colour, so even although it was 'on' with no colour, using manual focussing, there was no indication.

I don’t have this camera. But reading through Alan’s explanatory post it seems clear how to select your required colour.

Indeed it is but even following it to the letter success eludes me.
