Yes
I'm thinking of attending on the Wednesday afternoon. Never been to a camera show before so I'm wondering.

Is it worth taking my camera? Will there be a chance to stick some fancy lenses on it and take some pics to compare against my Sigma 17 -70.

Will there be (high end) cameras that I can stick my own memory card in to take some Pics, to compare to results from my own camera (Canon 650D).

What else would you recommend doing/seeing?

Any advice gratfully received.

I've read the "Deals to be had" thread. It doesn't answer my questions.

If anyone can advise, I would be greatful.

Yes you can take your own body and try out different lenses to see what you think ...

You should be able to pop your memory card into some top end bodies - be aware though the settings maybe all over the place due to everyone fiddling with them.

Just enjoy yourself, look to see if there are bargains for you and try some of the talks etc.

1st time I went, had a play with a Canon 500mm F4 and 600mm lens :D

Had a play with the 1DmkIV last year.

Free beer in fountains and dancing girls.

Thanks Andy.

Which stall has the best beer and the prettiest dancing girls Phil?

Not sure about the beer, but with regards to the pretty girls then look for the crowds of guys with cameras clicking away :D

On the Nikon stand, all the cameras had their memory card slots taped up. Can't vouch for canon though.

Personally I wouldn't bother taking a camera. Its a PITA and you just look like the rest of the bearded, backpack wearing pervs getting way too excited over models who look like they would much rather be elsewhere.
Most stalls have cameras wet up with all the main lenses attached, so you can still see how they perform.

Well I haven't got a beard and I won't be taking a backpack.

I just thought it could be a good opportunity to compare my kit to more expensive kit, and thought the best way of dong so would be by taking my own camera and swapping lenses and memory cards, if you can do this.

Canon may let you pop a card in to test a camera. I did this several years ago, but the results were inconclusive as the light levels are so low you can't tell a great deal from the resultant images.

Yikes, I have a beard and will be taking a backpack....

I'm thinking about going on Wednesday and having a look around. I assume there are some good demonstrations and workshops? Any in particular that are worth signing up for? do you need to sign up for them in advance?

No need to register at all, just be there 15-20min before they start as some get quite busy. Canon have some interesting ones
