Having struggled to try and autofocus in low light with my Strobist gear I thought I'd have a go at David Hobby's idea of using an LED torch as a sort of turbocharged af assist lamp, trouble is that means juggling a torch and a camera whilst trying to take the shot, so I came up with.....

Total cost £3 and it works like a charm :)

Battery grip looks familiar.......:D

Good idea Lord Flashy............

LOL, cool idea. Sick of trying to hold a torch in my hand or ballance somewhere when focusing at night.

Mart.

Liking that. I use a Fenix LD20 when I need something. Brighter than the sun that bleeder.

The thing with the wee LED light is that it's easily overpowered by the flash,so you can switch it on and leave it without it adding anything to the overall exposure.

Aah got ya. I only tend to use the Fenix if it is pitch black to focus then lock it then take the shot.

Cool idea!
