Yes
I've got hold of a large flight case to store all my gear in at home but now need some foam sheets to make an interior from.
Anyone got any links to cheap suppliers of suitable foam? I'm guessing I'll need low density foam?

Thanks.

Try a local upholsterers. I used one local to me a few years ago to replace the inserts for a case I had at the time.

They cut it to size for me and the costs wasn't silly (at least, it seemed good value at the time).

I don't know of any online foam suppliers, but if you need to cut some camera/lens shaped holes in it, check out this video:

you can get the ready cut pluckable stuff on ebay

now repeat after me, i'm not a pleasant plucker....

Dunelm Mill sell foam in several thicknesses

I was going to suggest memory foam, as we have it on our bed. It moulds to your body, and takes it's shape. Only thing is, it does get very bitty.

That could be a really good idea!

Use it for a selection of equipment, eg a 50mm, then a 400mm, then if you want to use it again for the 50mm................hey presto, it remembers! :D

The standard upholstery foam is quite soft and whilst it is good for holding things in place I'm not that convinced about it's shock absorbing properties especially if it is thin or compressed. What I did with a Peli Case was to line the case with closed cell foam (camping mat) which has much better shock absorbency and then use foam from Dunelm Mill to create cut-outs to hold the gear.
