'Flying'/'Floating' Photos

One of my students was studying Miss Aneila for her A level coursework and we investigated/experimented creating these kind of images. Essentially it is a double exposure.

Compose your shot, set exposure and lock your camera off on a tripod

Take one image of the empty space you want your model to float in.

Place your model into the frame - along with willing volunteer(s) to hold them into position. Take care that hands / fingers of volunteers cannot be seen, or are ruffling clothing.

Take the second shot using the same settings as the first shot.

In PS, layer the two images on top of each other and using a layer mask, remove the volunteers from the shot and hey presto, you should have a floating model.

Cheers
