So I come back from work and as I am eating, I notice quite a few ants/ flies. I figured I'll finish eating and exterminate the little rugrats only for someone throw some sugar onto onto them thinking it will water them.

Let's just say my kitchen is over run with flies. I don't know the species but they look like ants that fly. I thought of making a sugar trap but I can't say I fancy going into my kitchen now. What can I do to get rid of them !

Help !

Cover or remove any food, spray the room and then put up sticky paper traps.

I suppose it depends on where you live ,but up here in north wales yesterday was flying ant day ,the females emerge from there nests and fly off to find new nests ,it’s always easy to spot as there’s always thousands of gulls overhead eatin them

The also do a more powerful "pro" version, which I have just bought and it rocks!!!
Wasps are despatched with a loud crack and an impressive blue spark - dead in one swipe, well worth the money. :)

I'll need to look that up because I find the one I've got sometimes seems to knock them to the ground in a frantic spin and then when zapped again it acts as a resuscitation device and brings them back - so I have to get medieval on them and start zapping like a man possessed.

With the old one I had (twin AA batteries, not the whacking great twin C's this one has) I often had to hold the button down and crush the wasp against something until the beast started smoking (think along the lines of "The Green Mile"!).
No need with the new "Executioner Pro" :-), sometimes, rarely, a wasp might need a second zap just to make sure if it's still twitching, although it might be dead I like to make sure.

lol that's exactly what I have to do sometimes - trap the fly against a window and deep fry!

I have a couple of solar powered zappers that came from B&M irc, stick on the window and forget them till the bugs need cleaning off.

Why kill wasps (or any other insect) that strays inside?

If at all possible I try to shepherd them out of the house.

It's only flies I go after, carry a lot of diseases. Wasps I dislike but will usher them out so I don't have to deal with them or be stung. Bees I like and will help them out for their sake.

Anything with wings and /or six+ legs signs it's own death warrant the second it crosses the threshold.
